Bleu Devil Awards

This Award was created by the Bleu Devils Hall of Fame to recognize and give honor to those unsung athletes, including individual and team sport players, whose consistent hard work, unselfish dedication, tireless efforts and performances played a pivotal role in the success of the Dillard University Sports program(s). Generally, these athletics contributions may have gone unnoticed by the league, conference, or media but not by Dillard University.

The first Bleu Devil Award will be presented in 2024.

Bleu Devil Award Nominations

Criteria for "Bleu Flame" Award Nominations:

Lettering in Varsity Sport: Nominees for the Bleu Flame Awards must have earned a varsity letter in a recognized and sanctioned sport at Dillard University. This achievement underscores their active participation and commitment to their respective teams.
Consistent Participation: To be eligible, nominees should have participated in at least 50 percent of the games played over two years or two seasons. This criterion highlights their consistent involvement and contribution to the team's endeavors.
Exemplary Character: Nominees must have demonstrated outstanding qualities of moral character and integrity throughout their time at Dillard University. Their behavior both on and off the field reflects the university's core values.
Service to Dillard: In addition to their athletic contributions, nominees must have proven their dedication to Dillard University through active service. Their involvement in the university community further solidifies their commitment to the institution's growth and success.

Nomination Process and Considerations:

The Bleu Flame Awards hold a special place in the heart of the Dillard University Sports Hall of Fame. Each year, a meticulous selection process identifies individuals whose dedication has made a lasting impact. The Board of Directors carefully reviews the nominations, ensuring that the selected recipients exemplify the essence of the Bleu Flame Awards.

Nominees who are not selected for induction in a given year will remain eligible for future consideration. This ensures that each nominee has the opportunity to be recognized for their exceptional contributions, even if not immediately inducted. Unsuccessful nominees can be re-nominated after a waiting period of one year.
